About Frontier Springs

As the founder of this new business, I have been a solar power enthusiast since earning my electronics degree many years ago, and I do enjoy tinkering and being productive with the technology. There are opportunities in the RE industry with a vast marketplace to provide creative energy and conservation solutions to a sophisticated society. Renewable Energy is certainly a frontier where every day a greater proportion of our country is becoming more aware of the variety of possibilities. A long term vision is a retail store, tangibly demonstrating RE products and practical systems. Perhaps even sub-contracting and gathering the specialized raw materials for the tinkerers among us who build their own wind turbines or brew their own bio-diesel. Yes, we are a brand new business and will perform our duties with professionalism and within the renewable energy categories where we can provide the confidence and quality expected by a business' customers. We plan to bootstrap our business activities with photovoltaic (solar module) bulk-buy promotions where many customers can participate and benefit in a quantity discount. We will also be able to design and install small off-grid solar RE applications. And of course we will get into the onerous politics and policies of Home Owners Associations and engaging with appropriate municipal departments and their code requirements. That should keep me busy for awhile!

Purchasing from Frontier Springs

Frontier Springs wishes to accomplish two critical items when conducting a transaction with our customers: Product value to the customer and cash flow discipline for the business. As a new business, home-based, wanting to move into a retail storefront we can only do so when demand and gross margins allow for the added operational expense of leasing retail space. Sales must finance the growth of the business - In other words Frontier Springs will not go into unjustified debt. Frontier Springs' financial ability to carry specialized and unpredictable-demand inventory is also limited. Our supply channel is an industry leading renewable energy wholesaler providing access to all products. It is less expensive for all of us to let them carry the inventory. When browsing Frontier Springs' product offerings the associated statement of "email us for availability" means that Frontier Springs does not have the item in local inventory and must be ordered. Most of the renewable energy retailers you'll find on the web, structure themselves the same way. When we have the item in inventory it will be explicitly stated as such. We do want to move inventory and get this equipment installed and producing energy! When requested, Frontier Springs will provide a quote to the customer for product items requested. When the quote is accepted, the customer will prepay in cash for their order and a representative of Frontier Springs will sign the quote indicating receipt of cash for the ordered items. Frontier Springs cannot carry the float on customer orders and request that our customer prepay in cash. We are endeavoring to provide value to our product pricing and when we can eliminate transactional costs and banking risks we will pass those savings on to the customer. We do not accept credit or debit cards as the card companies charge for those services, which are just passed onto the customer, increasing product pricing. Cash is king! When Frontier Springs has a promotion we will combine all customer orders into a large order with our wholesaler, this has the added benefit of lowering the shipping costs.

Mission

The high value extended to our customers should return to Frontier Springs, success in business. Success should be repeatable upon client demand and sustainable given resources at our disposal. The ability to do "it" again and again. The inference is that clients are highly satisfied, and pricing for products and services are market acceptable while covering the cost of operations. The reward to Frontier Springs is viable economic existence enabling our employees to confidently pursue their unique lives.


Company Management Profile

Mike Woodall - General Manager & Founder

Mike Woodall began his career in 1982 in the telecom industry. As a hardware and telecom systems switching engineer he had hands on work with installation, maintenance, and operations activities. He contributed to the development of telecom systems and data network planning designs. Incorporating both technical requirements and business constraints to justify divisional budget investment and deployment in capital equipment.

Mike has had perspective from the manufacturer's side as well as the telecom service provider's view.

Expanding his career to the marketing function of business he developed spreadsheet based business models in support of Start-Up telecom service providers. Mike developed spreadsheet algorithms to model the cash flows of a business' revenue, capital investment, and operational activities. He has written revenue applications with revenue growth requirements based on the feature/functionality of specific capital equipment. He has been involved with the justification efforts in sustaining $15 million capital equipment funding proposals. He has reviewed, critiqued, and recommended changes on multiple cash flow based business models.

He has earned an A.A.S. in Electronics, A.A. in Business, B.S in Business Administration with honors from the University of Texas at Dallas, and an MBA, also from UTD.
